Event code explanations

Codes in the fixture list and on other publicity material give a brief indication of the type and standard of
competition.

There are four levels of event: A,B,C,D

Level A are the most prestigious including championships and festival events to which international competitors might be expected. Nevertheless there is usually some provision for the local orienteer to participate in some form.

Level B are events offering high quality terrain and competition to which competitors would be prepared to travel quite long distances to attend. Again, provision is usually made for the local participant as well.

Level C are for participants seeking competition at a variety of venues against a varied group of competitors without wishing to travel particularly far.

Level D events are provided at local level and modest cost.
